Originality. Authenticity. Inspiration.

This competition is not simply about perfect spelling, difficult vocabulary or impressive writing techniques.

We want a story that moves the reader

One that allows us to feel the character’s fear, courage, sacrifice and trust in Allah when the outcome is uncertain.

What Will the Judges Look For?

Spelling, punctuation and grammar will be considered, but technical perfection alone will not win the competition. We want to hear the pupil’s own voice.

Your Story Should Have

• A clear beginning, middle and ending
• Memorable characters
• A challenge or difficult decision
• A journey or important change
• Feelings and emotions
• A meaningful connection to Hijrah
• Your own original ideas

Some tips

Before you start, ask yourself:

What is my character leaving behind?
What will test their courage?
When will they need tawakkul?
What will their new beginning look like?

And most importantly:

How will my story make the reader feel?

Original Work & AI

All entries must be the pupil’s own original work.

AI-generated or AI-written work is not permitted. Final entries may be checked using AI-detection software, and entries found to have been substantially generated or rewritten using AI may be disqualified.
